Let's get social for justice.
UJC Night Out is our yearly takeover of the Museum of the City of New York for an evening of art, music, entertainment, food & drinks. Night Out will bring together the voices of the next generation to address pressing social crises amplified by the current political climate while celebrating music, art, and our future.
Join our special guests, Priya Desai, Miss Eaves, Gina Brillon, and Olivia K and the Parkers!
Priya Desai is an award winning reporter and documentary film maker. She is currently a digital correspondent for Time Inc where she produces content for Sports Illustrated, People and Time Magazine focusing on immigration, race and gender.
Prior to Time Inc. she was a reporter at NY1 News for 8 years where she was a general assignment reporter and eventually joined the sports department becoming one of the countries first South Asian female sports broadcasters.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she has called New York her home for 15 years.
Miss Eaves is the feminist sound storm of Brooklyn based-multimedia artist Shanthony Exum. Her fierce femcee electro-pop-rap-dance-explosions celebrate confident women who aren’t afraid to love themselves and own their sexuality — all with a take-no-shit attitude that pushes back at the patriarchy, haters, and anyone else who tries to keep her down. And the world has taken notice: Miss Eaves has been featured by The New York Times, NPR, Billboard, New York Magazine, Elle, Glamour, Jezebel, and more, with her viral sensation “Thunder Thighs” landing on lists of feminist anthems alongside legends like Beyonce.
Actress, comedian, and writer Gina Brillon was born and raised in Bronx, New York. She’s been a standup comic since she was 17 years old. Her first one hour special, ‘Pacifically Speaking,' was produced by Gabriel Iglesias and debuted on NuvoTV in Fall 2014. She had a featured role in Gabriel Iglesias’ film, The Fluffy Movie. She’s made appearances on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, E!’s Chelsea Lately, AXS’ Gotham Comedy Live, The View, and is the first (and only) Latina winner of NBC’s 2012 Stand up for Diversity Showcase. She was selected to be part of Montreal’s Just For Laughs New Faces Showcase. Gina sells more tickets as a headliner within the Improv Comedy Club chain than any new artist. Gina is also an accomplished singer, published writer, and poet, her pieces have appeared in the New York Post and Daily News among others.
Olivia K, is a born-and-raised Brooklyn girl with a voice and words full of soul. Mixing the funky jams of 70s artists like Chaka Khan, her Caribbean dance roots, and a gospel message of speaking truth to power, she electrifies every room with her infectious good humor and powerful vocals. She plays throughout New York City, singing with artists of diverse genres from country to jazz, and of course, performing her own original music with her band Olivia K and the Parkers. Follow her and her amazing creative journey at oliviaksings.com, or on Instagram and Twitter at @oliviak_music
